Weather Advisory

***URECC MEMBERS***

Upshur Rural Electric Cooperative is closely monitoring a winter weather system expected to impact our area in the coming days. Current forecasts show the potential for significant icing beginning late Friday and possibly continuing through Sunday. Temperatures are expected to remain below freezing even after precipitation ends, which could create ongoing issues.

Because this event may last several days, power outages are possible and restoration could take longer than normal due to hazardous conditions. Members should begin preparing now for the possibility of extended outages.

URECC has been actively planning for this event. Our crews are on standby and ready to respond as soon as conditions allow, and we have begun coordinating with additional contractors if extra resources are needed. We will continue communicating with our members as we get closer and as conditions change.

How you can prepare:

Ice can cause tree limbs and power lines to fall due to added weight. Downed power lines may be difficult to see. Always stay away and treat any downed line as energized. Never touch or approach it.

Report power outages or downed power lines using the SmartHub app, by visiting our website, or by calling 903-680-2100. For immediate emergencies, call 911 first, then report the issue to URECC.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we prepare for this weather event.
